The Higgins Group at British Potato 2003





The 2003 British Potato Event will take place on the Newark, Nottinghamshire showground on 3th and 4th September 2003, and following our successful involvement with this bi-annual event in 2001, we have already started our preparations for what is a very important industry occasion.



It is generally agreed that in addition to the trade exhibition, a working harvester demonstration greatly adds to the value of the event for visitors and exhibitors alike. At British Potato 2001, we contracted and moved over 1,000 tonnes of the variety Courage to our crisping customers over the two day duration of the event. This year we have taken complete responsibility for the crop area, obtaining the site, supplying the seed and defining all inputs and direct operations.



As well as a crop, a working event of this nature requires an outlet capable of utilising large tonnages in a short period of time. The crop, which is made up of 27 acres of Morene and 5 acres of our own crisping variety Horizon, has now been planted and McCain will be instrumental in ensuring that the Morene harvest is processed over the two days of the event, having agreed to assist BPC by providing an outlet for this crop.



The Higgins Group is taking full responsibility for producing a satisfactory yield and will ensure that the crop meets the customer�s specification on time.
