For many years the business strap line has been �Potato Marketing Specialists�.



Although this is still as appropriate as it was when first introduced, the company has decided to introduce a new theme which equally reflects where the business stands today.



Mike Higgins, the current Chairman, founded the company in 1959, so in 2009 the Group will have been in business 50 years. This is quite a feat in an industry notorious for short-term, short-lived enterprises.



The business is still completely family owned and the family influence is as evident and important as ever. Mr David Higgins is Group Managing Director and Mr Kevin Higgins is Farm Director. Both are sons of founder, Mike.



For values which bind and strengthen any family such as loyalty, respect and fairness are those which The Higgins Group aspires to in all its relationships, both internal and external.



A family might appear to be a little parochial and narrow-minded, but Higgins have always endeavoured to be at the forefront of the industry and with a turnover in excess of �40m, an international grower base of over 200 and exporting to over 30 countries, this fully vertically integrated business cannot be accused of these constraints.
