Bruising Workshop - 22nd July 2004
In the competitive environment that our company, our customers and our growers operate in, it is no fun having crops or loads rejected.
To avoid this is simple ensure every crop is in spec. The most common crop quality problems are caused by undesirable colour or defect due to damage.
In December we organised a grower meeting to outline our recommendations for successful storage.
With maincrop harvest imminent we invited growers to two sessions at Finningley to highlight how crop damage can be minimised.
We had over 50 people farmers, harvester drivers and some of our own staff learning how to assess the risk of damage and how to avoid it happening.
We carried out this meeting with the help of the BPC who launched their Bruising Reduction kit to our growers. If you haven't got a copy call Kate Jackson on 01937 558245.
